Greece, Super League 27-30 March Match Reviews
- Aris Vs Ergotelis has no real meaning for either side. Aris is already down, relegated, Ergotelis may need one more positive result until the end but has the opportunity to take points in next games. No need to bet on this one.
- OFI Vs Atromitos is also of no big motivation. Actually it’s only Atromitos that is motivated and in form. I would have suggested the away win or Atromitos DNB here but the guests are going to miss a couple of important regulars (Garcia, Papadopoulos) and although OFI may be a bit tired, I have no indication they’re gonna “skip” the game. Thus, it’s us who ‘d rather skip it, at current odds.
- Panionios Vs Panetolikos. Panionios is the only motivated side in this one but the HW odds are still a bit high (in comparison to Veria and Platanias’ ones) for two reasons. One of them is that Panionios is not in big urge and has one more game at home, next week. Basic reason, though, is that Panetolikos is not expected to give a helping hand to Panionios. I’m not saying they ‘re motivated. I’m just saying they’re not expected to “skip” the game. So, HW odds, which have gone down to 1,65, may not be that valuable. I wouldn’t be surprised, though, in case the ref tries to decide the game here so maybe there is an opportunity to get the HW at improved prices in live betting.
- Asteras Vs Olympiakos. Normally the only interested side is Asteras but Olympiakos does not want to lose, even in friendlies. Olympiakos with too many missings in midfield and attack. Actually there are only few creative players left available for the champs and Asteras can be dominant at home if they want to. This is the question here. Do they want to? I would bye 6,0 (HW price) to learn it. Low stakes, for sure.
Panathinaikos Vs Kalloni. Home win. Don’t know about beating the handicap. Main striker and MVP of the team is missing. A couple other players will be rested for the hosts. Home win, that’s all.
Giannina-Panthrakikos is about the hosts, only. Giannina may need one more positive result or maybe they don’t. Panthrakikos is safe. During the past these two sides had very good relationship. I’m not sure what’s happening currently. The prices does not indicate anything suspicious. Maybe our forum mate GPV can give a helping hand.
There are three more games, the ones that include Veria, Apollon and Platanias, the main candidates for relegation. Apart from Aris, who is already considered relegated.
If you followed what I was thinking of at previous round, when everything went as expected, you should know the main logic is that there is a block of teams, under Olympiakos’ umbrella, who may cook their results in order to save Platanias and Veria and relegate Apollon, who is outside the block and tries to resist to that rotten system. Of course one of them has to finish at the 16th position, which means going to an extra game against a 2nd division side. It’s not expected to be that tough, though, as the quality difference is so big that the 16th should be considered 90% safe.
Of course this thinking is not that original or genuine. If the bookies had only few clues last time and offered prices like 1,55 (Xanthi, Kalloni) or 1,80 (Levadiakos), now they also know totally what’s actually happening and they have taken precautions. That’s why Platanias’ and Veria’s HWs are priced at 1,30 max.
Platanias has a quite “friendly” schedule ahead but beating this poor traveler friend, Levadiakos, looks like the perfect opportunity to start breathing easier. Do you ask if Levadiakos needs points? Yes they do. And they will take them at home against OFI, next week.
Veria is in utter need of winning against Xanthi. The guests were helped by Panionios last time and now they should help Veria. They (Xanthi) still need few points but there are other matches ahead they can collect them. Veria without their best scorer and MVP, Ben. It doesn’t matter. I would be very surprised with anything but the home win.
Since 1,30 is useless, the only options here are the following.
1) Skip the games totally. Don’t try any away wins etc. for the value of the odds. Or…
2) Make a combo of them at 1,70 and try medium/high stakes on it.
About Apollon Vs PAOK it seems that both sides are motivated. There are 4 facts here, though.
a) Apollon’s motive is way bigger than PAOK’s.
b) PAOK and Apollon are both against Olympiakos’ block, which rule the championship. PAOK may have a friendly attitude against Apollon.
c) PAOK has an awful record when traveling far from Thessaloniki, especially when goes to Athens for a game. This is something like… tradition for PAOK.
d) PAOK has many important missings, especially in midfield and back. Four or five regulars are out.
For all the above reasons, I’m willing to invest medium stakes on Apollon DNB @2,25 (Sportingbet). 5/10
